The primary purpose of the Pharmacy Benefit Management Technician Certification Program is to evaluate the competency of individuals who provide Pharmacy Benefit Management services and to confer the credential PBMCT to individuals that possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide safe, efficient, and effective Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) services for US based prescription drug programs or integrated healthcare systems.

In fulfilling this mission, the PBM Technician Certification Program serves Pharmacy Benefit Management services employers, individuals seeking employment at these organizations and the general public. The PBMCT Certification provides employers with increased confidence in the competency of Certified Pharmacy Benefit Management Technician candidates. The PBM Technician Certification Program also provides a way for individuals to demonstrate and receive third party attestation of their competency thereby increasing their marketability within the PBM industry. The PBM Technician Certification Program serves the public by validating the competency of Pharmacy Benefits Management technicians that it may encounter when seeking or receiving prescription drug services.

In addition, the PBM Technician Certification Program aims to raise awareness of the importance of PBMCTs within the PBM industry. Finally, the Certification Program provides PBMCTs with a recertification program that provides some structure to their continued education and development throughout their career.
